Jillian is an artist with over 20 years of experience as a costume designer and prop builder (stage, TV, Video, galleries). She loves the process of creating costumes and objects that start as merely a concept or a dream and figuring out how to bring them to life. A seasoned collaborator who knows that looking and listening are very important parts of the process of collaboration. She has worked a lot with singers and dancers and private clients.

Her many years in the design room has resulted in a great depth of well-honed, technical knowledge. An awareness of what can and can’t work - this is why she is confident pushing boundaries while working with new materials.

Jillian’s aesthetic is steeped in classic silhouettes and classic tailoring. A self-proclaimed nerd when it comes to knowledge of draping, pattern-making and tailoring. She leans heavily on these technical skills when manipulating and draping unconventional materials.

Jillian grew up watching her father develop custom manufactured furniture with architects and interior designers, learning early on that if a concept is good, it is worthwhile investing the time and energy into figuring out how to create it.

“ Long before I became a costume designer, I observed the power of dress first hand: certain outfits can make you the center of attention while other outfits can render you nearly invisible. This knowledge as a superpower and is what led me to become a costume designer. As an artist I use fashion as a medium”.
